This was the location for the Startup Weekend that I pitched earlier this past weekend. It was recently renovated to be used as both an exhibit and children science center. In the past, it was used as a train center station.
One of the other participants at Startup Weekend had commended to me that Union Station reminded him of the Grand Central Station in New York in regards to the size of the building in respect to the individual people walking within it.
I myself noticed that I needed to wear my sunglasses inside the room we conducted Startup Weekend, even though there was not direct sunlight through the windows. The vast amount of visual stimulus started to cause a mild migraine. It also did not help that the room got uncomfortably hot due to the concentration of body heat.
Overall, I was glad I tried to pitch my idea and become more comfortable meeting complete strangers and to quickly describe my story. I also took note of the strengths of the winner groups of what made their presentation stand above the others.
